Faith & Angela have their work cut out for them as they go into elimination against Hunter & Smashley.
Season 32 – Episode 8
Faith & Angela won’t have to go against fellow rookies Jozea & Da’Vonne in the elimination. The rookie girls will face Smashley & Hunter in No Slack. Partners will be connected via a cord in a hallway with six windows. As soon as the partner in the back punches through a window and climbs through, the partner in the front can do the same. First team to get out through their windows wins.
Smashley and Faith are in the back for their teams. T.J. blows the horn. Faith gets through the first wall before Smashley, and get a nice lead until Faith feels her thumbnail go into her thumb and just breaks down. Smashey is headbutting windows to get through, and Hunter busts through in a couple of punches. The mercenaries win.
Angela cries (5 points).
Back at the house, Smashley & Kyle coitus (20 points for Kyle). Shane apologizes to Da’Vonne.
The cast seemingly gets a day off. They go to a vineyard. Amanda and Joss kiss (10 points each). On the bus home, Shane and Cara Maria fight (10 points each) about how much Bananas sucks, how Cara Maria shouldn’t be friends with him and Cara not being friendly in general.
Back at the house, Bananas confronts Shane and coolly is like, “yeah, everyone is super over you.” But the confrontation builds and it’s a fight (10 points each).
Back at the Redemption House, T.J. brings everyone to the surveillance room to show Kyle banging Smashley in Faith’s old bed. Yikes for Faith. She does not feel great.
The challenge is called Don’t Push Me Around. The cast is divided into two teams who will play in a full-contact sport on a rugby field. Teams will start on one side, go through the revolving doors in the wall in the center of the field, get a ball and try to return it to their end zone, back on the other side of the wall.
Since Kam & Kayleigh won the last challenge, they get to pick which team they are on.
Yellow Team: Nelson & Shane, Jozea & Da’Vonne, Tony & Bananas, Joss & Sylvia
Orange team: Zach & Amanda, Cara Maria & Marie, Smashley & Hunter, Brad & Kyle
Kam & Kayleigh choose the Orange Team. In pregame interviews, Shane & Nelson fight about strategy (10 points each) as Shane would like to throw the challenge.
The game is whoever scores 2 first wins. It starts and Amanda uses her rugby experience to score. Nelson, Joss, and Bananas are trying, but Shane is playing for the other team. Shane figures he’s not going to get the MVP vote, so he may as well lose the game and hope his friends Smashley or Amanda can get MVP and not use their power vote on them.
Hunter scores the 2nd point and they win.
Jozea is mad Shane threw the challenge, so he and Shane get in a fight (10 points each). Jozea seems pretty aware that he and Da’Vonne are the easy target rookies and they have a very uphill battle from this point on. Bananas also knows that his only alliances are Cara Maria and Zach. Bananas is also mad, and yells at Shane for thinking about the current situation and not how bad this makes him look in the long run (5 points for verbal attack).
The winning Orange Team chooses Zach & Amanda as MVP, since Zach was tackling people and Amanda scored a point. A graphic shows them as the winners of the challenge (15 points for Zach & Amanda). This team challenge, but MVP’s are the winners thing is a bit like last week with Kam & Kayleigh being the winners of the winning team.
Voting and elimination will be seen next time, but considering Zach & Amanda aren’t yet interested in making new enemies, they’ll likely throw their double vote on rookies Jozea & Da’Vonne.
- Maybe Shane could have been a little more subtle in throwing the challenge?
- Smashley really earns her name! Also, Kyle came VERY close to the Nany Bonus, but we didn’t see him hook up Faith this episode… just the same bed.
- Cara Maria hates the friend groups, seems to criticize Faith for “literally” crying about Kyle (something Cara Maria has also done this season), explains that Smashley had less slack and Hunter had thicker windows in the elimination, and mentions that Sylvia also threw the challenge in her interview with People magazine.
- In a nod to MTV’s original function as a musical television station, the episode features a new song, by Jozea, called “Tony Montana” and it’s not the worst.
Stuff on Twitter:
- Amanda tells us about a rule MTV editing didn’t include in the episode.
- Nany is coming back next season?
- Sylvia has a boyfriend and he cooks!
- Remember Paula? Her family is growing!
