Rivals 2

11 of us decided to participate in a The Challenge: Rivals II fantasy league.

The deal was it was $20 to enter. 3rd place won their $20 back, 2nd place won $50 and 1st place was awarded $150… unless this is illegal gambling or something, in which case, um, by dollars I mean pride points!

Here is the scoring system we used for Rivals II:

• Making T.J. say, “You killed it”: 10 points
• Making T.J. verbally express his disappointment in your behavior: 20 points
• Winning the regular challenge and getting immunity: 10 points

• Winning elimination challenge: 20 points
• Winning final challenge: 80 points
• Leaving show due to injury: -50 points
• Female Crying: 5 points
• Male Crying: 20 points
• Open-mouth kissing: 5 points per participant

• Coitus (or pulling over covers in bed): 20 points per participant
• Nudity: 10 points
• Verbal Fighting: 5 points
• Physical Fighting: 25 points (hard push and slapping counts in this category)

• Being kicked off show for something other than injury: 100 points (must be eliminated outside of game play)

NOTE: Flashbacks from previous challenges did not count towards scoring. Anything that happened off camera/was not shown, did not count in scoring. Anything that happened during the after show or the reunion did not count towards scores.

Since there was a cast list out of 32 people, we decided to create a 33rd option, “the replacement” so that each participant in the league would have 3 cast members on their team.

“The replacement” was a pick that represented any and all replacement players brought on the show in the case of an original cast member leaving for any reason (as this is something that’s happened in the past). If there were no replacement players, the replacement pick would be a bust. If there were more than one replacement player, the person who drafted the replacement option would be awarded all points for all replacement players.

Even though we knew the teams (thanks, Wikipedia!) for Rivals II, we drafted individual players, not teams. However, we obviously considered who each cast member’s teammate was when drafting.

We got a draft order from random.org and did a snaked draft (where the positions flip every round, so whoever drafts first during the very first round, drafts last the following round, then they’ll draft first again in the next round).

*Right before the draft started, we became aware from the internet that Naomi would leave episode 1 and be replaced by Cara Maria. To be fair, we ensured all participants were aware and decide to count Cara Maria, not Naomi as a member of the cast and leaving the replacement option out there. However, this did devalue the replacement value substantially.
